Antique Kitchen Spice Rack

I wanted to design a set of antique wooden kitchen shelves that could be used free standing and wall mounted. What I came up with was a design for a spice rack that I really wanted to replicate with as many different woods as possible. 

I started with some old cedar wood from a large wooden crate that had been used as a dog pen. I love the idea of combining some iron work with my woodworks so added some wrought iron nails to improve the aesthetics.

 I'm really happy with the way this design has turned out. the longest part of the process was breaking apart the crate without damaging the wood too much, and removing all the rusty nails.

This rack ( left) quickly sold, so I have made a couple more and plan more as and when I find suitable woods.

This is the second spice rack with the same unique design proportions and overall dimensions. I can be used free-standing or wall mounted using the wall mounts I've added to the back of the rack.

I am making more with the same design, but each one is unique because no two pieces of wood are the same.
