A Sexy Pear of Legs

Well, in fact there are 2 pairs of pear legs holding up this French Walnut board, but nevertheless, I am really very excited about this new design.

One of the things that inspires me about it is how it can ultimately be put to use. I think it's unfair to call it a 'chopping board' because it is so much more than that. With a gorgeous set of legs it goes miles further towards being a functional piece art that has many practical uses in the kitchen & dining area, not least as a raised sharing platter.

Sure, you can chop up all sorts of vegetables for cooking and prepare delicious recipes (Pear and Walnut salad?) , but could it just be too sexy for that primary task alone? I think this piece will sit proudly in the centre of a large dining table surrounded by people who will admire the pear wood legs even  before contemplating what piece of charcuterie they fancy.

As with all my raised chopping boards, this simple 'raised up' feature means that it can easily be picked up, carried, cleaned underneath and most importantly, it is perched above potential moisture traps on kitchen worktops. Solid wood like this is happy to get wet and like to be cleaned, but it doesn't want to sit flat on any surface absorbing liquids that won't dry easily.

This is why I have so many variations on this basic design principle - a raised chopping or charcuterie board is so much more functional.

Look out for this one on my Etsy shop and be sure to add to your favourites - that way you'll be first to know about any price reduction or special offers.
